Strength, Song and Salvation

"Behold, God is my salvation;

I will trust, and will not be afraid;

for the Lord God is my strength and my song,

and he has become my salvation." (Isaiah 12:2 ESV)

"The Lord himself and the Lord alone is enough for strength, song, and salvation." - Ray Ortlund

In the World's Finale

Something for reflection on the anniversary of 9/11...
I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage, like the despicable fabrication of the impotent and infinitely small Euclidean mind of man, that in the world's finale, at the moment of eternal harmony, something so precious will come to pass that it will suffice for all hearts, for the comforting of all resentments, for the atonement of all the crimes of humanity, of all the blood that they've shed; that it will make it not only possible to forgive but to justify all that has happened. - Fyodor Dostoevsky (cited in The Reason for God, Timothy Keller)

A Doubter's Faith

It's ok to pray like this...

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (Mark 9:24 KJV)

A Song to Learn: Beautiful Things

We started singing this at my church at the beginning of the year. It has become a favorite of ours. When you can barely get out of bed, read anything out of the Bible or utter a word of prayer, this is another song to learn. Don't underestimate the power of singing to yourself.

Art and Good News

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. It was originally posted at David Murray's blog sometime last year but I think we can always benefit from it down the road as we go. Take up and watch, and take notes.
